How programs actually pay for it
Most directors are not paying for this out of pocket, and they do not have to.
- The school budget is the first place to ask. The subscription is small enough to sit in a line beside plumes and bus fuel, and a show playing in a browser is the easiest thing a director has ever had to take into that conversation.
- Boosters and alumni, in addition to the school. A parent organisation with a treasury is how most programs buy anything, and an alumni association is a second door worth knocking on. Either can be the one who pays and the one who renews, on a licence that belongs to the program rather than to whoever charted the show.
- Districts and universities get a quote. More than one ensemble, or a whole district, is priced as a conversation rather than off a page. Tell us the shape of the program and we will put a number to it, and we can set up an invoice by hand where a card will not do.
